Scooter News Canberra was hosting the Peter Stevens demonstrator fleet! Riders who came in on the big open Day on May 1 went into the draw for a Vespa prize pack. This was won by Ed Snape (aka "The Professor") from Goulburn. The MP3 250 and 400 are still available for rides. The free rego, CTP & Stamp duty deal for the MP3 has been extended. With the MP3 250 getting the innagrual "scooter of the year award" from the Australian scooter magazine PS Imports has extended their importer discount. Vespa News: There are 2 new GrandTourismo Vespas on their way. Both are variants of the new 278cc engine in the GT 300 Super! The Vespa GTS Super engine provides additional torque, but to our minds the uprated suspension is the significant upgrade; now there will be two more variations to the theme. Stay posted for more news on the GTV 300 Montenapoleone and GTS 300 Super Sport. SYM scooters from Select Scoota have moved the prices on their scooters again. The prices dropped when the Aussie dollar was high, jumped a little again and have now dropped again with the current shift in the AU$ fluctuations. SYM pricing has stayed very competitive compared to other importers. See www.motorini.com.au/allprices to have a look at the prices in the range. New models; from SYM scooters firstly - www.scoota.com.au have released a new 125cc retro model from the new SYM factory. Coming in at $2790 plus on roads the scooter will join the 125cc Orbit as a hugely tempting model for those with a budget. For those with bigger distances to travel the Firenze and HD200 are now fuel injected and $100 cheaper than their predecessors. The most recent PIAGGIO is the Fly 150 which has been released at the same price as the 125cc model, making the new 150cc one fantastic value. Proir to the Fly's release the updated 300cc X7, was released at the same price as its 250cc predessessor. The X7 scooter carries the smallest pricetag for any model with this fantastic engine at $6990. Take the XEvo 250 and squash it legthwise (think Mercedes AClass) and you have a nimble but slightly tall city scooter with highway capability. Scooter club for Vespas in Canberra - The Swarm, with an obvious reference to the Vespa/wasp, is meeting on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6pm at All Bar Nun in O'Connor. Aimed at Vespa riders and invited riders of other scooters, information on the swarm is posted at www.theswarm.com.au and the every day activities are on the forum linked from that site. |
